 Region II Championships General Information
OBJECTIVE
The Regional Championship Tournament is one of four regional
tournaments comprising the next-to-highest level of a nationwide
tournament whose objective is to determine regional champions and
national champions in the age groups listed below.
SCOPE
As defined in the National
Championship Rules, the age divisions are U-13, U-14, U-15, U-16,
U-17, U-18, U-19 for males and females.
PROGRESSION
The winners of the U-14, U-15, U-16, U-17, U-18, U-19 divisions
advance to the US Youth Soccer National Championships.
PARTICIPATION
Each National State Association may be represented by one team
in each division and any additional wildcards as prescribed in the
Region II rules. All state representatives are determined by open
competition using a format established by the National State
Association and approved by the Regional Director. The format from
each state shall be sent to the RTC Chairman. The rules governing
team and player eligibility are set forth in the rules of the U.S.
Youth Soccer National Championship Rules.
MEMBERSHIP
The Midwest Region (Region II) is one of four administrative
regions comprising the United States Youth Soccer Association. It,
in turn, consists of 14 National State Associations:

04. Kansas State Youth Soccer Association
05. Kentucky Youth Soccer Association
06. Michigan State Youth Soccer Association

09. Nebraska State Soccer Association
10. North Dakota Soccer Association
11. Ohio Youth Soccer Association, North
12. Ohio South Youth Soccer Association
13. South Dakota State Soccer Association
14. Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association
AUTHORITY
All tournament games played at national, regional, state, and,
where applicable, lower levels, are conducted under the authority of
United States Youth Soccer. All Championship games are played and
administered in accordance with guidelines set forth in the U.S.
Youth Soccer National Championship Rules (current edition).

US Youth Soccer National Championship
Each summer U S YOUTH SOCCER crowns a national
champion, one for boys and one for girls, in the Under 14, Under 15,
Under 16, Under 17, Under 18 and Under 19 age divisions.
The finals are a culmination of a year long
series of competitions at the state and regional level. State
championships (often referred to as State Cups, or Open Cups)
are held in each of the 55 U S YOUTH SOCCER affiliated State
Associations; some in the fall, but most throughout the spring.
Champions are crowned for boys and girls in various age groups between
Under 12 and Under 19. Champions in the Under 12, 14, 16, 17, 18 and
19 age divisions go on to represent their state at the regional
competition. (Region I additionally crowns champions in the Under 13
and Under 15 age divisions.)
The four regions host the next level of play in
the National Championship tournament structure. The Regional
Tournament is truly a tournament of champions as only teams who have
won their state championship can participate in the Regional
Tournament. Regional champions are determined in the Under 12, 14, 16,
17, 18 and 19 age divisions (also Under 13 and Under 15 in Region 1),
boys and girls, with the champions in the Under 16 and above age
divisions advancing to the National Championship finals.
The National Championship finals are played
every July before thousands of spectators. This championship
represents a culmination of a year long effort by the four best boys
and girls teams in the Under 16, Under 17, Under 18 and Under 19 age
groups. Each team plays a semi-final match against another regional
champion in their age group to advance to either the championship or
consolation game. The teams are competing for one of the eight
championship cups that comprise the National Championship competition,
and the honor of joining one of the most exclusive groups in the
nation. Each year the names of the new champions and their home states
join the list of other past champions, with their names engraved on
their respective championship cups. |
