Registration Open for Tryouts for 1995 & 1996 ODP and 1997 PDP

The 2008-2009 Olympic Development Program (ODP) and Player Development Program (PDP) on-line registration for the August try-outs is now open.  The long term goal of these programs is to identify a pool of players in each age group from which a National Team will be selected for international competition, to provide high-level training to benefit and enhance the development of players at all levels, and through the use of carefully selected and licensed coaches, to develop a mechanism for the exchange of ideas and curriculum to improve the playing levels.  Over the last two years, a number of new events and training sessions have been added to strengthen the program statewide and regionally, and we hope that 2008-2009 will be our best year to date.  To register, please click the Tryout Registration System link to the left.

 Olympic Development Program

The Olympic Development Program (ODP) is a national program to identify and develop youth players to represent their State, Region, and country in soccer competitions.

ODP teams are formed with each of the 55 US Youth Soccer State Associations and four regions, made up of the best players in the various age groups. At the state association level, pools of players are identified in each eligible age group, brought together as a team to develop their skill through training and competition. From the state pools and subsequent teams, players are identified for regional and national pools and teams.

Please click on the calendar link at the left for a full schedule for the team for the seasonal year.

It is the purpose of Kentucky Youth Soccer Association in conjunction with US Youth Soccer to run the Olympic Development Program for the reasons below:

1) to identify a pool of players in each age group from which a National Team will be selected for international competition;

2) to provide high-level training to benefit and enhance the development of players at all levels;

3) through the use of carefully selected and licensed coaches, to develop a mechanism for the exchange of ideas and curriculum to improve all levels of coaching.

Player Development Program

The Player Development Program is a Kentucky Youth Soccer state program for players not yet eligible to tryout for ODP.  The exclusive purpose of the PDP is to promote player development through training and playing opportunities. It will also keep more players involved with the program by giving them an insight to the state Olympic Development Program.

The PDP is strictly for players born in the 1997 birth year with all the activities taking place in the state of Kentucky except a tournament in Alabama.

After the try-outs in August the players selected will be invited to attend five in-state pool training sessions followed by an intra-state play day and a mini-camp to take place in Kentucky. This age group will not travel with the Olympic Development Program to regional events.  Please click on the calendar link at the left for a full schedule for the team for the seasonal year.  For pictures of last year's successful camp, please click here.
